Finland Removals Service Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Finland Removals provides domestic and commercial removal, packing, storage and related services within the United Kingdom. By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before placing a booking.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following words have the meanings given:

1.1 We, us, our means Finland Removals as the provider of removal and associated services.

1.2 You, your means the customer who requests and purchases the services.

1.3 Services means any removal, packing, unpacking, handling, loading, unloading, transport, storage or related services supplied by us.

1.4 Goods means all items and property to be moved, handled, stored or otherwise dealt with by us on your instructions.

1.5 Service area means the locations within the United Kingdom where we agree to provide our services, including but not limited to London and surrounding regions.

2. Quotations and Service Scope

2.1 Any quotation issued by us is based on the information you provide, including the volume and nature of goods, access conditions and addresses. Quotations are not binding if the information you provide is inaccurate or incomplete.

2.2 Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, quotations do not include insurance, customs duties, parking charges, tolls, storage charges, disconnection or reconnection of appliances, dismantling or reassembly of furniture, or the removal of doors, windows or other fixtures.

2.3 Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless we withdraw or amend them earlier. Prices may be adjusted for changes in our operational costs, taxes or other unavoidable changes beyond our control.

2.4 We may conduct a survey of the premises to confirm the details of the work. Where a survey has not taken place, the quotation will rely solely on your description and may be revised if the actual work differs.

3. Booking Process

3.1 A booking is made when you accept our quotation and we confirm the booking in writing. Acceptance may be by email, online confirmation or signed acceptance form, as applicable.

3.2 You are responsible for checking that all details in the quotation and booking confirmation are correct, including dates, addresses, services requested and any special requirements.

3.3 We reserve the right to decline any booking without providing a reason, particularly where the work is unsafe, unlawful or outside our standard service area or capabilities.

3.4 You must inform us as soon as possible of any changes to your booking, including change of dates, addresses, access arrangements or the volume or nature of goods. Changes may result in additional charges or require a revised quotation.

4. Payments and Charges

4.1 Unless agreed otherwise in writing, payment for our services is due as follows:

a. For domestic moves, a deposit is payable on booking and the balance is due no later than the day before the removal date.

b. For commercial moves, payment terms will be agreed separately and may include staged payments or payment on invoice.

4.2 We accept payment by methods specified in our correspondence or on our invoices. You are responsible for ensuring that cleared funds are received by us on or before the due date.

4.3 If payment is not received on time, we may:

a. Suspend or cancel the services.

b. Charge interest on overdue amounts at the statutory rate until payment is made in full.

c. Retain possession of goods in our vehicles or storage until all sums due are settled.

4.4 Additional charges may apply where:

a. Access is more difficult than stated, such as long carrying distances, restricted parking or limited lift access.

b. There are unexpected delays outside our control, including waiting for keys, restricted entry or building management requirements.

c. The volume or weight of goods exceeds the amount specified at the time of quotation.

d. Work is required outside normal operating hours at your request.

5. Your Responsibilities

5.1 You must ensure that all goods are properly packed, secured and labelled before the removal work begins, unless you have requested and paid for our packing service.

5.2 You must arrange suitable parking for our vehicles at both collection and delivery addresses and cover any parking charges, permits or penalties arising from insufficient arrangements.

5.3 You must be present, or represented by an authorised person, at collection and delivery to direct our staff and confirm that all goods have been collected and delivered.

5.4 You must inform us in advance of any fragile, valuable or special items, including antiques, artwork, musical instruments, glass, or items requiring specialist handling.

5.5 You must not include in the goods any items that are hazardous, explosive, illegal or otherwise unsuitable for transport or storage, including flammable materials, gas cylinders, chemicals, firearms or perishable food.

6. Cancellations and Postponements

6.1 If you wish to cancel or postpone your booking, you must notify us in writing as soon as possible.

6.2 The following cancellation charges will usually apply, unless otherwise agreed:

a. More than 7 days before the scheduled service date: no cancellation fee, and any deposit may be refunded or credited at our discretion.

b. Between 3 and 7 days before the scheduled service date: up to 50 percent of the total quoted price may be charged.

c. Less than 3 days before the scheduled service date or on the day of service: up to 100 percent of the total quoted price may be charged.

6.3 Postponements may be treated as cancellations and rebookings, and may incur additional charges or revised pricing depending on availability and operational costs.

6.4 We may cancel or postpone the services if:

a. You fail to make required payments by the due date.

b. You fail to provide accurate or complete information about the work.

c. We reasonably consider that carrying out the services would be unsafe, unlawful or impractical.

In such cases, we will seek to provide reasonable notice and may, at our discretion, refund part of any payments made, less any costs incurred.

7. Liability and Limitations

7.1 We will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing our services. Our liability for loss or damage to goods or property is limited as set out in this section.

7.2 We are not liable for loss or damage arising from:

a. Your failure to pack goods safely where we have not provided packing services.

b. Inherent defects or vulnerabilities in the goods, including wear and tear, ageing, or defective construction.

c. Atmospheric or climatic conditions, such as damp, mould, heat or cold, unless directly caused by our negligence.

d. Normal handling, including minor scuffs, scratches or marks that are consistent with ordinary removal activities.

e. Incorrect or insufficient labelling or instructions provided by you.

7.3 Our total liability for loss of or damage to goods, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, is limited to a reasonable value per item or per consignment, subject to any specific limits we notify in our quotation or booking confirmation. You may request extended protection or insurance at additional cost where available.

7.4 We will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, emotional distress or inconvenience, arising from or in connection with the services.

7.5 We will not be responsible for the structural condition of furniture or other items that are dismantled or reassembled as part of the removal, or for pre-existing damage or defects.

7.6 Any claim for loss or damage must be notified to us in writing as soon as reasonably possible and, in any event, within seven days of delivery or scheduled delivery of the goods, whichever is earlier. We may request supporting evidence, such as photographs or inventories, to assess your claim.

8. Storage Terms

8.1 If we provide storage services, goods will be stored in facilities selected by us within our service area or nearby suitable locations.

8.2 Storage charges are payable in advance at the agreed intervals. Failure to pay storage charges may result in us exercising a lien over the goods and, ultimately, disposing of them to recover unpaid sums in accordance with applicable law.

8.3 You must not store with us any prohibited, perishable, hazardous or illegal items. We reserve the right to inspect stored goods where permitted by law and to remove or dispose of any such items at your cost.

8.4 Access to goods in storage is by appointment only and may incur handling or access charges.

9. Waste and Environmental Regulations

9.1 We operate in accordance with applicable UK waste and environmental regulations. We are not a general waste disposal contractor and will not remove household refuse or construction waste unless specifically agreed and properly classified.

9.2 Where we agree to remove unwanted items, you confirm that you have the right to dispose of those items and that they do not include hazardous waste, electrical items requiring special treatment or regulated materials.

9.3 Any disposal of furniture, appliances or other goods will be carried out in line with applicable regulations and may be subject to additional charges for handling, transport and disposal.

9.4 You must not request or permit our staff to dispose of items illegally, including fly-tipping or using unapproved sites. We reserve the right to refuse any disposal request that we consider unlawful or inappropriate.

10. Access, Property and Delays

10.1 You are responsible for ensuring that we have safe and reasonable access to all premises and locations involved in the service, including suitable parking, clear hallways, lifts and stairways.

10.2 We are not responsible for damage to driveways, paths, gardens or other surfaces caused by vehicles where you have requested or agreed to vehicle access.

10.3 We will use reasonable efforts to keep to agreed dates and times, but these are estimates only and may be affected by traffic, weather, road closures or other events beyond our control. We are not liable for losses arising from delays of this nature.

10.4 If we are unable to complete the services due to circumstances within your control, such as lack of access, incomplete packing, or failure to obtain keys, additional waiting time or rearrangement charges may apply.

11. Insurance and Risk

11.1 We strongly recommend that you maintain suitable insurance cover for your goods during removal and storage, either through your own policy or through additional cover where offered by us.

11.2 Risk in the goods remains with you at all times. Our liability is limited as described in these Terms and Conditions and does not replace or act as full insurance cover.

12. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

12.1 If you have a concern or complaint about our services, you should notify us in writing as soon as possible, giving full details of the issue.

12.2 We will investigate your complaint and aim to respond within a reasonable period. You agree to cooperate with our investigation by providing any information or evidence we reasonably request.

12.3 Where a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, either party may consider independent advice or other dispute resolution methods as appropriate.

13. Data Protection

13.1 We will process personal data in connection with the services in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

13.2 We collect and use your personal data to manage your booking, provide the services, handle payments and communicate with you. We may retain records as required for legal, regulatory or accounting purposes.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

14.1 These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the services, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

14.2 The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or their subject matter.

15. General Provisions

15.1 If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

15.2 No waiver of any right or remedy under these Terms and Conditions shall be effective unless given in writing and shall not be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach or default.

15.3 These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the services, and supersede any prior understandings, representations or agreements, whether written or oral.

15.4 We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking will apply to your contract with us, unless a change is required by law or regulation.
