Top 5 Packing Tips for an Efficient Move

Moving is considered to be a new beginning, an exciting adventure which is about to begin. But, as in every story, there are obstacles as well. And in this case, the main obstacle is packing. No matter how long the distance is between the old address and the new address, or the amount of money invested, the thing that people hate most when it comes to relocating is packing their items. And they are somehow right, packing is a nasty task which requires a lot of time and effort, but if you do it the right way, it becomes less of a burden. Here are the top 5 tips you should take into consideration when packing your items: •    Start your packing as early as possible. Many people think that they will have enough time to pack everything in a couple of days; they think it is easy and that will run smoothly. Sorry to disappoint but in most cases is not like that. Unless you start packing with at least a couple of weeks before relocating, then you will later realize that the moving day is coming and you haven`t finished packing yet. •    Make use of the box strategy. The core idea of this is to not throw everything into boxes and tap them. This will only create a mess, which will be a real nightmare when you will have to carry the boxes, load them and unpack everything. Make sure that no box weighs more than 50lbs and fill the holes left in the boxes with things like scarves, socks or pillowcases. Only fill the boxes to the point where the tops can be closed and sealed in an appropriate way-make sure that you seal flat the top of the box. •    Make an inventory of everything. And when we say everything we really mean it. It may be difficult in the beginning to keep an inventory of everything but you will find it very helpful when you will have to pack your items, and unpack them in your new home. The more organized you are, the better. Try to write a detailed summary of the contents on every box and create a numeracy/ color/ animals/ whatever you want system to associate the boxes with the rooms from your new home. •    Don’t forget about the essential`s box. Yes, you heard right, you should have a box with the things that you need most. This is because in your new home you won`t be able to just go through everything to find some toiletries or the dog`s food. The essential`s box should contain things like shampoos, toothpaste, toilet paper, cans of soups, all purpose cleaner, kettle, toaster, dishes, cutlery, flashlight, toolkit, trash bags, etc. •    Move some things personally. There are things like irreplaceable souvenirs or collectibles and even jewelry or important documents which should be let on the mover`s hand. Sometimes, no matter how careful they are, things get lost along the way, and you wouldn’t want that to happen. It would be therefore best to relocate some of the most important things by yourself.
